Ric McIver, your UCP candidate for Calgary-Hays
Ric has served the citizens of Calgary-Hays as their MLA since he was first elected in 2012 and re-elected in 2015.
During his first term, Ric served as Minister of Transportation, Minister of Infrastructure, and Minister of Jobs, Skills, Training, and Labour. Ric also sat on the Treasury Board and the Government Operations Committee.
Prior to becoming an MLA, Ric spent three terms, from 2001-2010, as Alderman for Ward 12 on Calgary’s City Council. During that time, he served on the boards of the Alberta Urban Municipalities Association, the Calgary Police Commission, and the Metropolitan Calgary Foundation. During that time he served as the Chair of the Calgary Housing Company for three years. Even outside of his roles in elected politics, Ric has always been passionate about helping Calgarians. He has been a long time volunteer for the Calgary stampede and helps out with several charities.
Prior to his public Service, Ric worked for, owned and managed several companies in the food distribution and marketing wholesale business.
Ric is married to Christine, the founder and CEO of the Kids Cancer Care Foundation of Alberta. They have four children and two grandchildren, who they are fortunate enough to live nearby in Calgary.
Ric looks forward to working with Jason Kenney and the UCP team to help renew the Alberta Advantage and shape Alberta’s future for all of our children and grandchildren.
